Welcome to Galloway Smokehouse.
Once again thank you to all our customers, old and new, for your continued support. Many of you have been loyal customers for more years than I care to remember and this is our measure of the quality of our products, when you return year after year to order our food to enjoy with friends and family or to send as gifts.
Christmas is just a distant memory now. The milder weather in December made life much easier for the delivery of our goods compared to the previous two years when we all had the exceptionally wintry weather to contend with.
Spring has now almost arrived and as always we have some special treats available in our busy shop and by Mail Order too. If you are planning an Easter event now is the time to check out our online shop to see what is available from our extensive range. The great thing about our products is that they are equally good on a cold winter's night or for a special buffet or even for a gourmet summer picnic.
Here at the Galloway Smokehouse we pride ourselves on our quality control. All our fish are hand filleted, our kilns are small allowing close monitoring of small batches, our raw materials are the best we can find and even our sawdust is specially selected. It is a by-product from a nearby cooperage where whisky barrels are refurbished. This sawdust is impregnated with whisky and when burnt in our smokers gives a rich strength of taste to all of our smoked products. All foods are cured with salt before smoking and to balance the harshness most smokehouses add sugar. To give a fuller flavour we add dark syrup and black rum. After smoking we still bone and slice by hand then vacuum pack to seal in the distinctive flavours, a little slower but the results are worth it. So with the best in raw materials, lots of love and attention and that extra special fresh Scottish air, our prize winning smoked foods are a gourmet's delight. They can all be kept in the fridge or freezer without any loss in quality. In fact, a selection of Galloway’s finest in the freezer is always a good insurance for those emergency gourmet occasions.

We know that many of our customers visit Dumfries and Galloway regularly and we look forward to seeing many of you in our shop over the next few months. The local boats are fishing again, landing a wonderful variety of fish and shellfish. The few remaining salmon netsmen will be starting later in the Spring supplying us with salmon and sea trout.

Our shop summer opening hours from Easter are:- Monday to Saturday 9.00 to 5.30 and Sunday 10.00 to 4.00.
